Stanstead County lies just north of the Vermont border in southern Quebec. It was first settled in the very early 1800s by families from New England, especially Vermont and New Hampshire. This volume was compiled by one of the last surviving pioneers, and provides a brief history of the towns of Stanstead, Hatley, Magog, Barnston, Coatickook and Barford with particular emphasis on their initial settlements.
