Easton was acquired in 1668 by Thomas Leonard (ancestor of the author), the clerk of the Taunton North Purchase Company, in the name of 52 other Taunton men and himself from the Plymouth Court for the sum of 100 pounds. The 50 square mile purchase also included most of Mansfield and part of Norton. In 1722, the East precinct of Norton was recognized, and in 1725 the area was incorporated as the Town of Easton. This book contains over 40 years of birth, marriage, and death records extracted from the Annual Reports of Easton, Massachusetts. Records are grouped by category-Births (1872-1910); Marriages (1872-1910); and Deaths (1864-1910)-and arranged alphabetically by surname. Birth records list the name of the child, the names of the parents, and the date of birth. The maiden name of the mother is given for the years 1903-1909. Marriage records include the names of the bride and groom, city of residence for each, and the date of marriage. Death records list the name of the deceased, the age at death, and the date of death. A handy every name index includes both the alphabetically listed names and names listed within the text.
