1 CD: Lebanon Valley, Pennsylvania, History and Genealogy
HB Archives
1999, CD, Graphic Images, Adobe Acrobat, v6, PC and Mac, 887 pp, paperback, Heritage Books
This CD-ROM includes electronic image reprints of four important works on the history and genealogy of the Lebanon Valley area of Pennsylvania. Ancient and Historic Landmarks in the Lebanon Valley - Rev. P. C. Croll. The author weaves the story of the early settlement of this valley in east-central Pennsylvania by using historical landmarks as a central theme. He covers both secular and church affairs, with particular attention to the Lutheran Church. (1895). Marriage and Death Notices Transcribed from the Pages of the Lebanon Valley Standard, 1871-1879 - Robert A. Heilman. The records abstracted here came from the "Lebanon Valley Standard." The events reported occurred mainly in Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill counties in Pennsylvania. This collection is particularly important because the State did not mandate the recording of vital statistics by civil authorities until 1885. (1995) Marriages (1832-1864) Reported by "Der Libanon Demokrat," A German Language Newspaper Published at Lebanon, Pennsylvania - Robert A. Heilman. The records abstracted here were originally published in German, but are now available in English. This paper began publishing in 1827, and went out of existence when it merged with the Berks County Zeitung in 1864. The events reported occurred mainly in Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill counties in Pennsylvania, with most being from Lebanon and western Berks counties. (1990) Deaths (1832-1864) Reported by "Der Libanon Demokrat," A German Language Newspaper Published at Lebanon, Pennsylvania - Robert A. Heilman. (1990) The books are presented as graphic images, so the user sees the works just as they were originally published. They are intended to look and function very much like "real" books. The indexes are human-generated, manual indexes. There are no electronic indexes, and there is no electronic text to search. However, extensive electronic tables of contents have been added which facilitate use of the books. The Abobe Acrobat reader is provided on the CD for all versions of Windows and Macintosh. The version of the reader needed for other operating systems can be downloaded free from www.Adobe.com. (NOTE: This CD is best viewed with a monitor resolution of 800x600 or higher.)

2 CD: Ancient and Historic Landmarks in the Lebanon Valley (Pennsylvania)
Rev. P. C. Croll
(1895), 2004, CD, Graphic Images, Adobe Acrobat, PC and MAC, index, 343 pp, Heritage Books
A sprightly recounting of local history. Using landmarks as a reference point, the author weaves the story of the early settlement in the Lebanon Valley area of central Pennsylvania. Some of the topics described include a bird’s-eye view of Lebanon Valley, Conrad Weiser and Rev. John Casper Stoever, and histories and incidents of secular and religious affairs, especially the Lutheran church, not readily available elsewhere. These sketches originally appeared as articles in “The Daily Report” between January and August of 1894, and were so well received that they were published in book form the following year. New full name index. The book is presented as graphic images, so the user sees the work just as it was originally published. It is intended to look and function very much like a “real” book. There is no electronic index, and there is no electronic text to search. However, numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to move through the book. Image numbers will match the page numbers for all the main text, as well as the index. Any unnumbered portraits and illustrations are at the back of the actual file, to keep page numbering consistent.
