Arc of Crisis 1979, Clete Hinton

1 Arc of Crisis 1979
Clete Hinton
2006, 5½x8½, paper, 68 pp, Heritage Books
A fragile balance of power exists in the international order. “The shift in the East-West balance has occurred gradually, as has the progress of the Soviet Unions’ geopolitical influence.” Because of “erosion in geographic assets and military strength, the West’s capability to cope with a crisis is becoming progressively weaker, each future setback more dangerous, tilting the balance of power.” The Arc of Crisis 1979 is a description of this world conflict, the central theme being the countries of the Middle East, nations frustrated by dictatorship and autocratic rule, and communist dominated countries.

Camp David Accords, Clete Hinton

2 Camp David Accords
Clete Hinton
(1980), 2004, 5½x8½, paper, 120 pp, Heritage Books
This book opens with a description of the history of the Jewish state and then documents the steps taken toward peace between Israel and Egypt. These steps resulted in a historic peace treaty being signed between the two countries on March 26, 1979 in Washington D.C. At that time and place, Anwar El Sadat (President of Egypt) and Menachem Begin (Prime Minister of Israel) ended thirty years of intermittent war and uneasy truces between their two countries. Many months of persistent and skillful negotiations were required. Without the constant, unswerving encouragement and guidance of President Carter, the peace treaty might never have been signed. In a concise and fascinating way, Mr. Hinton has brought together the highlights of this far-reaching world event and described how it occurred as well as the obstacles that had to be overcome.

Return of the Sinai 1979, Clete Hinton

3 Return of the Sinai 1979
Clete Hinton
2006, 5½x8½, paper, 208 pp, Heritage Books
This book covers the signing of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, follow-up of the Camp David Accords, the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty sealed in the Sinai Desert, passing the “Hebron Accord,” and much more. Portions of this book deal with the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Sinai Peninsula. Following the withdrawal of the Israelites from the Sinai Desert, President Bill Clinton attempted to bring a peace settlement to the Palestinians. In the interim, King Hussein of Jordan, with Prime Minister Rabin, and President Clinton in attendance, ended a generation of fighting and reprisals, acknowledging each other’s sovereignty. President Clinton made a valiant effort to complete the “Wye Accord,” which would return the land that Israel seized in the 1967 six-day war, and would eventually allow the Palestinians to form an independent state.
