5 Bucks County, Pennsylvania Deed Records, 1684-1763
John David Davis
(1997), 2005, 5½x8½, paper, index, 528 pp, Heritage Books
In 1681, William Penn was granted a charter by Charles II, giving him and his heirs a sparsely populated tract of land that would eventually become the state of Pennsylvania. Bucks County was created in 1682 as one of Pennsylvania's original three counties. Ten deed books are abstracted in this volume. A typical entry includes some or all of the following information: page number, date of transaction, name of grantor, occupation of the male grantor, place of residence of the grantor, name of grantee, occupation of male grantee, place of residence of grantee, sales price, area of land involved, location of land, neighbors, chain of deed, landmarks, signatures of grantors and witnesses, and the year that the deed was recorded. Entries are listed chronologically and an index of full names is included.

Abstracts of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Land Records, 1711-1749, June D. Brown

6 Abstracts of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Land Records, 1711-1749
June D. Brown
(1998), 2005, 5½x8½, paper, index, 232 pp, Heritage Books
Bucks County was one of Pennsylvania's original counties. This work includes references to all persons found in the land records, with the goal of revealing information useful to genealogical research. These land records include deeds, leases, releases, mortgages, agreements and declarations of trust. From these records, one can discover an ancestor's family relationships, occupation, neighbors and perhaps even a little about his lifestyle, including debts and lawsuits. Some of these land records provide the name of the owner as far back as the 1680s, when the original grantee received the patent from William Penn. The entries are arranged in the order they were recorded in the deed books, and the original page number is included. A full name index rounds out this useful resource.

8 Bucks County, Pennsylvania Orphans’ Court Records 1685-1852
Thomas G. Myers
(1999), 2000, 5½x8½, paper, surname index, 654 pp, Heritage Books
This work contains abstracts of entries found in Bucks County Orphan’s Court dockets through 1852. Surname index is by Orphans’ Court file number. Includes the guardian accounts—which is of great genealogical interest, listing heirs of the decedent and ages of children. Minors above the age of 14 were entitled to make their own petitions for guardians in Pennsylvania. Each entry in this work contains the Orphans Court file number, the name of the decedent, place of residence or death, date of death and occupation when given, dates of court petitions through to 1852 and summaries of those petitions. Researchers should note that prior to 1752, the dates recorded in court dockets are Julian (Old Style Calendar). The surname index combines common alternate spellings.

Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Miscellaneous Deed Dockets, 1785-1857, Thomas G. Myers

10 Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Miscellaneous Deed Dockets, 1785-1857
Thomas G. Myers
(2004), 2007, 5½x8½, paper, index, 446 pp, Heritage Books
The Bucks County Recorder of Deeds began the Miscellaneous Docket series in 1785 to record various transactions other than standard transfers of real estate. The transactions in the Miscellaneous Dockets include powers of attorney, releases of executors and administrators, releases of guardians, dower releases, assignments of property, bills of sale and freeing (manumission) of slaves. Since many of these transactions are related to estate settlements, they contain a wealth of valuable genealogical information, especially family relationships, dates of death, and occupations. This work contains abstracts of transactions recorded in Miscellaneous Docket Volumes 1-12, recorded during the period 1785-1857. Each entry contains a summary of the transaction, the volume and page where recorded and the date of the transaction (which may differ from the date the transaction was recorded). Not all transactions were abstracted-the emphasis was on transactions containing information of genealogical interest.

Thomas G. Myers
(2002), 2006, 5½x8½, paper, index, 556 pp, Heritage Books, Inc
This work contains abstracts of entries of genealogical interest found in Bucks County Orphans' Court dockets. In Pennsylvania, the Orphans' Court in each county had jurisdiction to approve the settlement of estates and sale of real estate of decedents and to discharge the executors and administrators from their duties once the estate was settled. The guardians' accounts in these records provide a great deal of genealogical information, including the heirs of the decedent and the ages or birth dates of any children who were minors. Each entry in this work contains the Orphans' Court file number, the name of the decedent, place of residence or death, date of death and occupation when given, dates of court petitions and summaries of those petitions.
