Contained in this volume are 16,256 names listing of 17th-century Bostonians from thirty-four different sources. Land and church records provided the largest number of names for the early and middle 1600s, while tax, church, and residence lists are the major sources for the latter third of the century. The names are arranged alphabetically and give the year of the record. Each entry is also accompanied by biographical information from allegiance, church, estate, indenture, land, occupation, petition, residence, or tax lists. The final column of information indicates the source of the record.
